Course Overview

Current Advances in Heart and Vascular Care 2024 will provide the most current, evidence-based strategies for managing cardiovascular disease. The goal is to increase the knowledge of the inter-professional and multidisciplinary care team to provide high quality, cost effective care leading to superior and improved patient outcomes.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:


  1. Identify the circumstance upon which a patient with systolic heart failure should consider device therapy.
  2. Discuss echocardiographic measures of right ventricular function
  3. Develop strategies to decipher 12-lead EKGs for which to call a Code PCI
  4. Discuss the usefulness of Coronary CTA vs. Stress Testing in diagnosing coronary artery disease.
  5. Explore the role of cardiac myosin inhibitors for managing obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
  6. Discuss lipid management for cardiovascular patients.

Current Advances in Heart & Vascular Care 2024 will be held Saturday, March 2, 2024 by in-person or live-stream (virtual) attendance. The live and virtual presentations will follow the scheduled agenda in real time (EST).

Attendees who are registered to attend virtually will receive an email that includes a link to join the symposium 24 hours in advance. All virtual attendees will be required to sign into the meeting using your first name, last name and email address in order to be marked as attended and receive credit.
 
VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON REGISTRATION FEES
The fees to attend are as follows: $99 for physicians and industry attendees, $79 for nurse practitioners, physician assistants and CRNA's, and $59 for nurses and healthcare professionals, fellows, residents and students.
 
The registration fee is $49 for Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital and Penn Medicine Cardiovascular employees, faculty and staff.

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
 
DESIGNATION OF CREDIT
Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
 
ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.75 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
 
Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 6.75 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.
 
Nurses: This program provides 6.75 NCPD Hours.
 
PA State-Approved EMS Continuing Education: This program provides 6.75 contact hours

ABS MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn 6.75 credits toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirements of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. CANCELLATION POLICY
In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellations must be received in writing by February 15, 2024 (subject to a service charge equivalent to 10% of the registration fee, but no less than $25.00). No refunds will be issued thereafter.
 
The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, and travel agencies.

Current Advances in Heart and Vascular Care 2024 Post-Test
The post-test will not be available until attendance has been verified.  You must complete the post-test and evaluation in order to claim your MOC credit.

“If you are an ABIM diplomate (American Board of Internal Medicine) and would like to claim your MOC (Maintenance of Certification), please note that you must pass the post-test with the score of 75% in order to claim MOC credit. You have 5 attempts."

At the end of the test, on question 4, please click the submit button and wait for the answer to register in the system. If the window is closed prior, the test will not automatically trigger the evaluation.
