Physicians licensed in Pennsylvania must complete 100 credits of CME in the two-year licensure cycle (licenses expire on December 31 of each even-numbered year). The following specific requirements must be satisfied as part of the 100-credit total:

• 20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™
• 12 credits of required patient safety/risk management CME* (these can be Category 1 or Category 2 credits)
• 2 credits of required opioid CME
• 2 credits of required child abuse recognition and reporting (This training MUST be received from an approved provider on this topic)

• The remaining 64 credits must be completed in either approved Category 1 or Category 2 CME activities
  • Category 2 credits are self-reported.  Click here to download the form to report your category 2 credits.
    *Acts of charity, volunteer time and service on a council or committee DO NOT earn a physician CME credit. Credit CANNOT be claimed for education incidental to the regular professional activities of a physician, such as learning that occurs from clinical experience. Credit IS NOT awarded for passing examinations.
