Physicians are required to complete 20 Category 1 CME credits in any topic. Click here for online educational resources.

  • Physicians must complete a board sponsored/approved orientation program within their first renewal period following licensure.
  • Authorized Prescribers of Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) must complete 3 hours of Category 1 or board-approved CME within their first renewal period following licensure. Click here for online educational resources
  • Physicians must complete a 3 hour CME course on drug diversion training, best prescribing practices of controlled substances and appropriate treatment for addiction. Click here for online educational resources
  • In addition, licensees are required to complete a one-time board orientation course to acquaint new licensees with the Louisiana Medical Practice Act, the function of the board and its rules, opportunities available in rural and underserved communities.
