Supported by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, this symposium will include recent initiatives in bariatric surgery care, specifically highlighting research and care in Pennsylvania. Presentations will include recent surgical innovations, pharmacotherapy initiatives, and allied health supporting care of the patient undergoing bariatric surgery.

At the conclusion of this educational activity, the participant should be able to:


  1. Review current guidelines for bariatric surgery care
  2. Describe psychological considerations of bariatric surgery care
  3. Assess pharmocotherapy needs of bariatric surgery patients
  4. Explore gaps in current evidence base for optimal bariatric surgery care


IN-PERSON OR VIRTUAL ATTENDANCE
The Pennsylvania Chapter of ASMBS 2026 Meeting: Addressing Weight Loss in a Multidisciplinary Approach will be held Friday, October 30, 2026 by in-person or virtual attendance. The live presentations will follow the scheduled agenda in real time (EST).

Parking: Complimentary parking is available at the Alloy King of Prussia.

The fees to attend are
$125.00.

In-Person Attendance: All preregistered in-person attendees will receive access to the meeting, the program handout, continental breakfast, lunch, and breaks. Attendees will be required to sign-in to be marked as attended, receive credit and view the recorded content.

Virtual Attendance: Attendees registered to attend virtually will receive an email that includes the link to join the symposium and the electronic program handout within 48 hours of the symposium. Virtual attendees will be required to sign onto the Live Stream broadcast using their first name, last name and email address to be marked as attended, receive credit and view the recorded content.

Verified attendance includes access to view the presentations (videos and slides) online for one year. Pre-registration is required to attend. Walk-ins are discouraged. Please be sure to register in advance.

All pre-registered attendees will receive access to the meeting, the program handout, continental breakfast, lunch, and breaks. Attendees will be required to sign-in to be marked as attended, receive credit and view the recorded content.

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.  

Designation of Credit

Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABS MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn 5.50 credits toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirements of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.

Nurses: This program provides 5.50  NCPD hours.

Physician Assistants: Penn Medicine has been authorized by the American Academy of PAs (AAPA) to award AAPA Category 1 CME credit for activities planned in accordance with AAPA CME Criteria. This activity is designated for 5.50  AAPA Category 1 CME credits. PAs should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation.

Psychologists: Continuing Education (CE) credits for psychologists are provided through the co-sponsorship of the American Psychological Association (APA) Office of Continuing Education in Psychology (CEP). The APA CEP Office maintains responsibly for the content of the programs. This activity awards up to 5.50 credits for Psychologists.

CANCELLATION POLICY
In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellations must be received in writing by October 16, 2026 (subject to a service charge equivalent to 10% of the registration fee, but no less than $25.00). No refunds will be issued thereafter.

The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, and travel agencies.
