Course Overview
The goal of this one-day conference is to share state-of-the-art information on COVID-19. The course, taught by experts in the field from the University of Pennsylvania, will include core topics such as the epidemiology of COVID-19, current and emerging treatment modalities, infection control measures, and prevention strategies. The conference aims to enable physicians and nurses to stay current with best practices, diagnoses, and treatments of COVID-19 diagnosed in the primary care and other practice settings. The conference will provide management advice and critical information relevant to clinical decision-making. The lectures, case discussions, and panels will provide helpful pearls as well as thorough reviews of the diagnosis and management of complex cases as instructive examples. The content is intended to augment the attendees' ability to practice medicine according to the most recent available guidelines and recent original literature in this rapidly changing field and to broaden their knowledge of this rapidly changing field.

Objectives
  1. Detail the overall epidemiology of COVID 19 with a focus on US and racial disparities.
  2. Identify which patient are at risk for COVID-19 and of those who are considered to be at risk for severe disease.
  3. Diagnose COVID-19 using the most appopriate diagnostic modailties in a variety of health care settings
  4. Identify common cinical manifestations of COVID-19.
  5. Apply evidence-based therapeutic approaches to the care of patients with COVID-19
  6. Apply evidence-based strategies to prevent COVID-19 in the health care setting and in the community.
  7. Describe key infection control measures in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in health care settings.

Registration
The registration fees for Covid-19 Update for Primary Care Providers are $195 for physicians and industry employees, $95 for nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, physician assistants, researchers and other healthcare professionals, $25 for residents and fellows and students.
Penn Medicine and Affiliates working in the Department of Medicine may register for a discounted rate of $25. To register at this reduced rate, you must have a valid Penn Medicine ID, sign in with your Pennkey and password to register for this activity online.
 
The registration fee includes live stream access to the conference and access to view the presentations (slides) online. In-person attendance is not permitted for this conference. All pre-registered attendees will receive a link and instructions to sign-in and join the virtual conference no later than Wednesday, March 24, 2021. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR SPAM BOX FOR EMAILS REGARDING THIS CONFERENCE.

Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

DESIGNATION OF CREDIT
Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 7.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 7.0 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Nurses: This program provides 7.0 contact hours.

Pharmacists: This knowledge-based activity is approved for 7.0 ACPE contact hours of continuing pharmacy education credit. JA0000324-0000-21-014-L01-P.
Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 7.0 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.
