The Penn Advanced Limb Preservation Symposium 2023 will include lectures from national experts on topics relevant to the care of patients with critical limb ischemia. The conference includes topics such as advanced endovascular techniques, cutting edge approaches in soft tissue and bony reconstruction, and best practices in nonoperative care. This day and a half conference features lectures as well as case-based education, and cross-specialty discussions about the optimal approach to specific problems.

This course has been designed for vascular surgeons, cardiovascular specialists, orthopaedic surgeons, radiologists, podiatrists, plastic surgeons, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, fellows, residents and other health care professionals with an interest in limb preservation.

The course features a joint session, followed by parallel tracks: one session focused on bony and soft tissue reconstruction and treatment alongside another session about revascularization.

Target Audience
Specialties - EMERGENCY MEDICINE - Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine, INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY AND DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY, ORTHOPAEDIC SURGERY, PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION, PLASTIC SURGERY, VASCULAR SURGERY

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify and evaluate patients with diabetes and PAD who are at risk for amputation.
  2. Review the current indications, risks, complications, and outcomes of medical, endovascular, surgical, and wound care therapies for the treatment of CLTI and DFU.
  3. Discuss the available techniques for lower extremity revascularization
  4. List the available medical, surgical, and wound care techniques for treatment of ischemic and diabetic foot founds and infections.
  5. Discuss how to Incorporate advanced medial, endovascular, and surgical techniques and approaches into their own practices to improve care and outcomes of patients with DFU and CLTI
