Friday, October 11, 2019, 6:30 AM - Saturday, October 12, 2019, 7:30 PM EST, Hyatt at the Bellevue 200 South Broad St.

Course Overview
Using a combination of didactic presentations, panel discussions, and question and answer sessions, our goal is to educate the participants in state- of-the-art information regarding the pathophysiology and treatment of ventricular arrhythmias. There will also be VT ablation cases streamed live from the University of Pennsylvania during which a moderated panel discussion and question and answer session will occur to educate and demonstrate to the audience members the most up- to-date techniques for complex ablation and other procedures. The program is taught by a select group of international leaders and pioneers in the field of electrophysiology, pathology, pharmacology and basic/translational research including members of the faculty from the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Department of Electrophysiology.

Target Audience
Specialties - INTERNAL MEDICINE - Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology, INTERNAL MEDICINE - Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology, INTERNAL MEDICINE - Interventional Cardiology

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this symposium, the participant should be able to:

  1. Discuss strategies to improve treatment outcome in patients with ventricular arrhythmias and structural heart disease including new techniques and technologies
  2. Discuss the current status and future role for device therapy in the management of sudden cardiac death and heart failure.
  3. Discuss the role of new techniques for VT substrate assessment including functional scar imaging, intra procedure MRI, and high density mapping
  4. Describe risk stratification for sudden death and treatment including VF ablation in patients with VF due to various substrates and syndromes
  5. Identify the challenges related to treatment of PVCs and idiopathic VT
  6. Describe the science critical to the understanding and treatment of ventricular arrhythmias including: The role of the autonomic nervous system in ventricular arrhythmogenesis
  7. Describe the science critical to the understanding and treatment of ventricular arrhythmias including: Anatomic substrate for ventricular tachycardia (VT)
  8. Describe the status of ongoing multicenter VT related trials and discuss future directions and questions to be answered
