Course Overview

This continuing education conference is focused on practical and clinical issues faced on a daily basis by the neurologists, internists, intensivists, rehabilitation medicine physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who treat patients with inflammatory and immune mediated neurologic disorders. Basic immunologic concepts in neurologic diseases and their applications to new therapies will be reviewed and their effect on patients will be discussed.

Didactic presentations will be interspersed with interesting cases and expert panel discussions to elaborate on specific points of controversy and to answer audience questions. Presentations and discussions will be led by nationally and internationallyrecognized academic and clinical experts in their field.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe basic immunologic concepts in neurologic diseases and their applications to new therapies
  2. Explain the role and clinical utility of new antigens in autoimmune neuropathies
  3. Distinguish new antigen disorders from those currently being diagnosed
  4. Identify possible immunomodulatory therapies for amyloidosis
  5. Summarize the state-of-the-art concepts of genetic and immunological features of adults and children with multiple sclerosis (MS)
  6. Discuss the treatment options and complications for MS
  7. Show perspectives of patient care from APP point of view

Registration
The registration fees for Immunotherapy for Neurologic Disorders 2020 are the following: $195 for physicians or industry representatives, $125 for nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals, residents and fellows.

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Designation of Credit

Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 8.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This program provides 8.0 contact hours.

Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 8.0 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.
