Current Advances in Heart & Vascular Care 2020 will provide the most current, evidence-based strategies for managing cardiovascular disease. The goal is to increase the knowledge of the interprofessional and multidisciplinary learners by providing them with the ability to provide high quality, cost effective care that will lead to superior, improved patient outcomes.

This activity has been designed for primary care physicians, interventional cardiologists, clinical cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, hospitalists, emergency medicine specialists, interventional radiologists, nurses, physician assistants, technologists and other members of the health care team who want to enhance their knowledge of current advances in the management of patients with heart and vascular disease.


Learning Objectives
  1. Apply evidence-based medicine to provide care for patients in cardiogenic shock.
  2. Apply evidence-based medicine while understanding symptoms, risk factors, causes and treatment of aortic dissection.
  3. Identify the role of artificial intelligence technology in determining valvular heart disease.
  4. List 2 or more specific important clinical signs clearly seen on echocardiogram or other cardiac imaging.
  5. Describe new diagnostic techniques, medications and procedures utilized in the care of the patient with cardiovascular disease.
  6. Describe methods and strategies to prevent medical professional burn-out.
  7. Apply evidence-based knowledge in the treatment of patients with hypertension.

Registration
The registration fees for the Current Advances in Heart & Vascular Care 2020 are the following: $99 for Physicians or Industry Representatives, $79 for Physician Assistants, Nurse Practitioners and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists. $59 for Nurses and Healthcare Professionals. The registration fee is $49 for Chester County Hospital and Penn Medicine employees, faculty and staff with a valid Chester County Hospital or Penn Medicine ID.

The registration fee includes attendance to the conference, a course booklet, a link to view the presentations online, continental breakfast, mid-morning and afternoon breaks as well as lunch.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

Designation of Credit
Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Nurses: This program provides 6.5 contact hours.

Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 6.5 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.
