The goal of the ID Case Management Conference as an educational activity is to create a setting where real cases are presented and discussed. This will keep the attendees (physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists) up-to-date with the latest trends in infectious diseases, diagnoses, diagnostic approaches, and treatments. Such a series will allow attendees to maintain their competence and improve patient safety. These goals are also important links to the departmental/institutional quality improvement initiatives.

Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:


  1. Describe and generate differential diagnoses in patients presenting with illnesses that could be caused by infectious diseases
  2. Describe how to improve confidence in understanding the latest modes for diagnostic testing for infectious diseases
  3. Review the latest treatment options for infectious diseases
  4. Discuss how to improve communication across clinical teams to improve quality of care and patient safety


In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
