Course Overview


This course is complimentary to participate on and is available ONLY to Penn Employees.

The goal of the educational activity is to change the paradigm towards more judicious opioid prescribing by providing an overview of the opioid epidemic and identifying strategies for clinicians to safely manage and treat acute and chronic pain, promote adherence to new prescribing guidelines and promote harm reduction with opioid use. New Joint Commission requirements issued January 1, 2018 mandate that our health system provide educational resources to address these key areas.

  3. Review the new prescribing guidelines from the CDC and Penn Medicine.
  4. Explain the use of drugs that reverse toxic opioid effects and drugs utilized to combat opioid use disorder
