    Course Overview

    This course, “Non-Operating Room Anesthesia (NORA) Education for Practitioners,” has value not only to residency training programs, but can also be the standard teaching tool for the entire anesthesia provider team, including Staff Anesthesiologists, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists, and Procedural Physicians supervising the delivery of anesthesia in the NORA setting.

    ATTENTION Nurse Anesthetists! In order to receive your AANA certificate, please enter your AANA ID# under My CE/CME, PROFILE, CREDENTIALS. You are also required to enter your AANA ID# on the evaluation before proceeding to download your certificate.

    How to Receive Credit:

    To receive your Certificate of Credit for participating in this CME/CE-certified educational curriculum, please follow these steps:

    • Read all the introductory material including faculty and disclosure information
    • Complete the pre-test
    • View the video lectures, slides, references and resources
    • Complete the post-test. You will have 3 attempts to earn at least 80% in order to proceed
    • Evaluate the activity using the brief survey. You must complete the post activity evaluation to download your certificate
    • You will be able to download your certificate after completing the post-activity survey

    AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (0.75 hours), Non-Physician Attendance / Participation (0.75 hours), Nursing Contact Hours (0.75 hours), American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (0.75 hours)

    Objectives
    1. Describe the indications for ECT and the general sequence of events
    2. Identify the challenges of performing a general anesthetic at a high turnover pace in a remote location
    3. Discuss the indications and advantages of medications administered to achieve a successful ECT treatment
    4. Explain the risks and potential adverse effects during the procedure, including airway management and hemodynamic changes

    Penn Medicine designates this enduring material for a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

    Physicians: This activity is approved for 0.75 contact hours.

    Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 0.75 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.

    AANA (Nurse Anesthetists): This program has been prior approved by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists for .75 Class A CE credits; Code Number 1038322; Expiration Date 07/25/22.

    You will be required to complete the post-test after viewing this module. A score of at least 80% is required in order to pass the post-test. You will have 3 attempts to successfully complete the post-test. If you do not pass the post-test, no CE credits will be awarded. Once you have passed the post-test, you will be able to move forward and complete the Learner Assessment and Program Evaluation form. After the post-test, learner assessment and program evaluation are completed, you will be able to claim your credit.
