CVD is the leading cause of death in the US. Hypertension and diabetes are among the foremost risk factors for the development of CVD, stroke, peripheral artery disease, and heart attack. This program will provide an overview of recent advances that target the underlying pathophysiology of cardiovascular disease. The focus of the program will be on the new therapeutic strategies for hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and CKD.

This case conference follows a video rounds format, commonly used in movement disorders, where videos of unusual movement disorders or unusual presentations of common movement disorders are presented and the phenomenology narrated. The case is then discussed. The goal of the presentation is to adequately identify the phenomenology, discuss the differential diagnosis and most appropriate management.

Department of Medicine faculty and trainees review cases where morbidity and/or mortality occurred. These include all "Below Expected Risk" deaths and cases that highlight important clinical and system topics.
