Course Overview

Current Advances in Heart and Vascular Care 2023 will provide the most current, evidence-based strategies for managing cardiovascular disease. The goal is to increase the knowledge of the interprofessional and multidisciplinary care team to provide high quality, cost effective care leading to superior and improved patient outcomes.

This activity has been designed for primary care physicians, interventional cardiologists, clinical cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, vascular surgeons, hospitalists, emergency medicine specialists, interventional radiologists, nurses, physician assistants, technologists, EMS providers and other members of the healthcare team who want to enhance their knowledge of current advances in the management of patients with heart and vascular disease.

Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:


  1. Discuss treatment options for the geriatric cardiology patient.
  2. Differentiate between Type I and Type II Myocardial Infarction.
  3. Discern surgical treatment modalities for the patient with Bicuspid Aortic Stenosis.
  4. Describe antiplatelet management in the setting of gastrointestinal bleeding.
  5. Develop strategies for reading difficult 12-lead EKG's.

Current Advances in Heart & Vascular Care 2023 will be held Saturday, March 4, 2023 by in-person or live-stream (virtual) attendance. The live and virtual presentations will follow the scheduled agenda in real time (EST).

TO ATTEND BY LIVE-STREAM (VIRTUAL):
Attendees who are registered to attend virtually will receive an email that includes a link to join the symposium 48 hours in advance. All virtual attendees will be required to sign into the meeting using your first name, last name and email address in order to be marked as attended and receive credit, if applicable.
 
VIRTUAL AND IN-PERSON REGISTRATION FEES
The fees to attend are as follows: $99 for physicians and industry attendees, $79 for nurse practitioners, physician assistants and CRNA's, and $59 for nurses and healthcare professionals, fellows, residents and students.
 
The registration fee is $49 for Penn Medicine Chester County Hospital and Penn Medicine Cardiovascular employees, faculty and staff.

Accreditation
In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
 
DESIGNATION OF CREDIT
Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
 
ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.75 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
 
Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 6.75 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.
 
Nurses: This program provides 6.75 NCPD Hours.
 
PA State-Approved EMS Continuing Education: This program provides 6.75 contact hours

CANCELLATION POLICY
In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellations must be received in writing by February 17, 2023 (subject to a service charge equivalent to 10% of the registration fee, but no less than $25.00). No refunds will be issued thereafter.
 
The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, and travel agencies.

The CME/CNE-accredited conference, Current Advances in Heart & Vascular Care 2023 will be presented Saturday, March 4, 2023, at the Sheraton Valley Forge Hotel, 480 North Gulph Road, King of Prussia, PA 19406.  
 
Exhibit space will be made available during this event at $2,500 per table. Each exhibitor will receive a standard 8’ table.  A tablecloth and electric will be provided, if required. Your company will be acknowledged in the conference materials, on the signage and by the course director(s) during the welcome address. Exhibitors will be set-up in the lobby, just outside of the auditorium.  The CME activities will be held behind closed doors, in the auditorium, separate and apart from the exhibits.  We anticipate approximately 200 attendees and speakers.  Please act quickly as space is limited!
