Course Overview
This program is designed to demonstrate the application and execution of therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy. Using a format of lectures and live cases, our local and invited faculty will address challenges & practical solutions in the endoscopic management of digestive disorders including benign and malignant disorders of the esophagus, gastroduodenum, pancreas, bile ducts, and colorectum. Additional topics will include applications of endoluminal resection, radiofrequency ablation, argon plasma coagulation, ERCP, endoscopic ultrasound, polypectomy, and endoprosthetic therapies. The program will also focus on the current research and recommendations for managing patients with acute and chronic liver disease, including viral and autoimmune hepatitis, metabolic liver disease, portal hypertensive bleeding, refractory ascites, hepatic encephalopathy, liver transplantation and issues affecting liver transplant recipients. This conference is designed for Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists, GI Surgeons, GI Radiologists, Gastroenterology Fellows, GI Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Medical Residents and Medical Students.

  3. Outline controversial areas of the endoscopic management of esophageal disorders diseases
  4. Evaluate new guidelines and guidance in the management of acute and chronic liver disease

15th Annual Penn Live: GI Endoscopy and Liver Disease 2023 will be held Friday – Saturday, March 17-18, 2023 by in-person or live-stream (virtual) attendance. The live and virtual presentations will follow the scheduled agenda in real time (EST).

15th Penn Live: GI Endoscopy and Liver Disease 2023 will take place in the Arthur H. Rubenstein Auditorium at the Smilow Center for Translational Research/Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, 3400 Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19104.
 
TO ATTEND BY LIVE-STREAM (VIRTUAL):
Attendees who are registered to attend virtually will receive an email including the link to join the symposium 48 hours in advance. All virtual attendees will be required to sign into the meeting using your first name, last name and email address in order to be marked as attended and receive credit.
 
REGISTRATION FEES
IN-PERSON ATTENDANCE:
The fees to attend in-person are as follows: $175 for physicians and industry attendees, $75 for nurse practitioners, physician assistants, other healthcare professionals, residents and fellows, and $39 for Penn Medicine GI Division employees, faculty and staff.
 
All pre-registered, in-person attendees will receive access to the conference, attendee booklet, continental breakfast, lunch and breaks. Registration also includes access to view the presentations online for one year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, walk-ins are discouraged. Please be sure to register in advance.
 
LIVE-STREAM (VIRTUAL) ATTENDANCE:
The fees to attend virtually are as follows: $100 for physicians and industry attendees, $50 for nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals. There is no fee for residents, fellows, students and Penn Medicine GI Division employees, faculty and staff to attend.
 
All pre-registered virtual attendees will receive an email that includes a link with instructions to sign-in and join the virtual conference 48 hours preceding the symposium, as well as the attendee booklet (downloadable PDF). Registration also includes access to view the presentations online for one year.
 
Need to Register by Mail? Please note: mailed registrations can take up to 5-10 business days before they are received. We are experiencing longer delays receiving mail due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We encourage all attendees to register online. See the registration form for mailing instructions. All registrations will be confirmed by email as long as your registration is received no later than March 15, 2023.

Directions to Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine/Smilow Center for Translational Research:
The Law Auditorium at the Jordan Medical Education Center is located on the 5th Floor of the Smilow Translational Research Center. Smilow is connected to the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine and is located at 3400 Civic Center Blvd, Philadelphia, PA.

We strongly recommend you use GPS for exact directions to and from your starting point or if you prefer, take public transportation to and from campus, please visit http://www.upenn.edu/services/transportation for options.

Parking:
On Friday, March 17th, the 3600 Civic Center Blvd Parking Garage is open for public parking. It is located at Civic Center Blvd and West Service Drive (next to the Colket Research Center). The Smilow Center is about a 5 minute walk from this parking garage. Shuttles are also available. Parking is $20 per day. This garage is only open Monday-Friday. It is closed on weekends.

On Saturday, March 18 ONLY, the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine garage, 3400 Civic Center Blvd is open to those attending the conference. Parking is $20 per day.

Parking fees will not be validated or reimbursed.

Accreditation

DESIGNATION OF CREDIT
Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
 
ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 12.5 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.
 
Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 12.5 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.
 
Nurses: This program provides 12.5 NCPD Hours.

CANCELLATION POLICY
In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellations must be received in writing by March 6, 2023 (subject to a service charge equivalent to 10% of the registration fee, but no less than $25.00). No refunds will be issued thereafter.
 
The University reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, the University will refund registration fees but is not responsible for related costs or expenses to participants, including cancellation fees assessed by hotels, airlines, and travel agencies.

The CME/CNE-accredited symposium, Penn Live: GI Endoscopy and Liver Disease 2023 will be presented Friday - Saturday, March 17 - 18, 2023, in the Arthur H. Rubenstein Auditorium at the Smilow Center for Translational Research/Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine, 3400 Civic Center Boulevard, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 19104.  
 
Exhibit space will be made available during this event at $2,500 per table. Each exhibitor will receive a standard 8’ table.  A tablecloth and electric will be provided, if required. Your company will be acknowledged in the conference materials, on the signage and by the course director(s) during the welcome address. Exhibitors will be set-up in the lobby, just outside of the auditorium.  The CME activities will be held behind closed doors, in the auditorium, separate and apart from the exhibits.  We anticipate approximately 200 attendees and speakers.  Please act quickly as space is limited!
