Course Overview
The goal of the Pulmonary and Critical Care Summer Lecture Series is to provide a didactic series for fellows, faculty and staff (including Advanced Practice nurses and respiratory therapists) on topics in pulmonary and critical care medicine. These topics will broadly include basic science topics, pulmonary physiology, clinical management, patient safety and quality improvement, and professionalism. The program leadership will continually assess the needs of the fellows, faculty and staff through informal discussion, through review of fellow performance on in-service exams, and through review of outpatient practice charts

Objective(s): 1 Review the range of palliative care needs in critically ill patients 1 Describe how to plan for a safe and evidence-based withdrawal of life-support procedure 2 Describe and promote the essential components of a serious illness communication procedure (ie “goals of care”)
