Course Overview
This is the inaugural Perinatal Conference for Share of Lancaster. This conference featured invited members of the community who are leaders in their respective fields of stillbirth, pregnancy loss and trauma and grief. The first half of the day had a medical focus with medical providers who will speak to the current state of knowledge and address future directions of this field. The second half of the conference concentrated on the psychosocial aspects of this topic featuring our dedicated practitioners, compassionate social workers and clergy, and dedicated community members. 

This activity is designed to meet the educational needs for physicians, nurse practitioners, social workers, behavioral health specialists, midwives, and other healthcare professionals as well as clergy and funeral directors with an interest in the care of patients and families who have experienced pregnancy and fetal/neonatal loss.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:


  1. Identify and articulate three up-to-date practices in the management of stillbirth and perinatal loss.
  2. Review and assimilate information regarding appropriate supports and referrals for families experiencing perinatal loss.
  3. Formulate follow-up interactions and processes with those individuals and organizations to help navigate the journeys of families experiencing perinatal loss.
  4. Apply into practice various tools designed to assist the family that has experienced stillbirth and perinatal loss

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.  

Designation of Credit
Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 5.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Nurses: This program provides 5.75 NCPD hours.

Patient Safety Risk Management: This activity is approved for 5.75 of PSRM credits.
