Course Overview
Breast Imaging in the Caribbean is a four-day course focusing on practical methods to improve breast image interpretation and the new and evolving approaches to advance “personalized” or “precision” imaging in screening and diagnostic settings. We will highlight modalities beyond conventional mammography, such as digital breast tomosynthesis, supplemental imaging with ultrasound, contrast-enhanced mammography, and full and abbreviated breast MRI. Faculty will discuss the implementation and impact of Artificial Intelligence algorithms in breast imaging and new methods for improving breast cancer risk estimation. Daily case conferences will emphasize strategies to improve patient outcomes and breast imaging practices.

Target Audience
Specialties - DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL PHYSICS, DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY, INTERVENTIONAL RADIOLOGY AND DIAGNOSTIC RADIOLOGY

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Review methods to optimize mammographic screening and diagnosis, including the imaging of special populations
  2. Discuss advances in deep learning applications and artificial intelligence in screening mammography and risk assessment
  3. Discuss the data and optimization of supplemental screening with whole breast ultrasound, contrast-enhanced mammography, and abbreviated breast MRI
  4. Outline the methods used to optimize breast MRI imaging sequences as study interpretation
  5. Improve image-guided breast biopsy skills and management of high-risk lesions
