Course Overview
The ACTIONetwork provides bimonthly leadership training for community and academically based primary care providers(physicians, nurses, and PAs) and social workers that brings content experts from Penn Medicine and CHOP to address relevant and contemporary issues in delivering care to medically underserved patient populations. Sessions take place through live online sessions covering both clinical care and health administration leadership. Participants will apply and report back on the application of content to their own practice setting through a mentored quality improvement project. All participants will complete evaluations of each element of the CME series.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:


  1. Discuss how to design and implement rapid cycle quality improvement programs
  2. Discuss evidence based coordinated interventions for patients with complex needs
  3. Describe how to build interprofessional team cohesion, roles, and function
  4. Describe how to develop tools to expand and manage network opportunities, and identify ways to harness authority to achieve health outcomes
  5. Discuss principles of inter-organizational collaboration and develop interinstitutional community and academic partnership
  6. Describe how to demonstrate an understanding of the processes involved in leadership development on individual and organizational levels, that is responsive to community needs
  7. Discuss how to develop personal goals and a vision statement for the future as a leader in health care of disadvantaged and marginalized communities.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.  

Designation of Credit
Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.50 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 1.50 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.

Nurses: This program provides 1.50 NCPD Hours.

ABS MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn 1.50 credits toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirements of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
