Course Overview
Neuroendocrine Tumor (NET) Board provides a forum for the presentation of neuroendocrine patient cases to a multidisciplinary team of care providers for the porpose of engaging in the process of shared decision-making to determine optimal, personalized treatment plans for NET patient / families. This forum also provides a platform for the dissemination and discussion of important topics in the field of neuroendocrinology, such as: (1) identifying newly approved treatments, imaging techniques, pharmaceuticals, etc and to determine how they may be incorporated into the case discussions, treatment algorithms and treatment plans for patients (2) Discussing clinical trials and new research studies open to neuroendocrine patients, and providing updates on current reach endeavors (3) Elucidating educational advances in the field of neuroendocrinology (4) Encouraging attendance at academic meetings, participation in academic research and announcing funding opportunities for NET research. The Neuroendocrine Tumor Board Meetings also: -Foster a sense of interprofessional collaboration within the multidisciplinary NET team, in the delivery of NET patient care. -Encourage academic and research endeavors amongst the NET multidisciplinary group. -Educate and mentor new members to the NET team of caregivers.

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:


  1. Discuss appropriate, comprehensive, multidisciplinary best practice treatment plans for NET patients and their families
  2. Describe an in-depth knowledge of the various imaging techniques and treatment options for the diagnosis, surveillance and treatment of NET patient.
  3. Discuss the rapidly evolving field of neuroendocrinology through analysis of best medical practices and research
  4. Discuss how to strengthen professionalism among the multidisciplinary team participants

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.  

Designation of Credit
Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 1.00 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.

Nurses: This program provides 1.00 NCPD Hours.

ABS MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn 1.00 credits toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirements of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program.
