Course Overview
Penn Radiology developed this week-long course for radiologists in clinical practice or in-training. This program will focus on practical imaging issues to improve image interpretation across a wide range of common and uncommon clinical scenarios. Novel and cutting-edge imaging ‘protocols’ will be discussed highlighting potential ‘pitfalls.’ Selected topics in neuroradiology, abdominal, thoracic, musculoskeletal and pediatric radiology will be covered. There will be daily case conferences emphasizing ‘misses and misinterpretations’

Target Audience
Specialties - RADIOLOGY , RADIOLOGY - Neuroradiology, RADIOLOGY - Pediatric Radiology
Professions - Physician Assistants, Physicians, Radiology Technicians

Learning Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Apply the current advances in radiology for accurate image interpretation of adult and pediatric diseases of the brain, neck, chest, abdomen, and joints
  2. Design and implement appropriate imaging protocols that optimize diagnostic accuracy and minimize radiation exposure, particularly in the pediatric population
  3. Describe the role of "supplemental breast screening" in women with dense breast tissue, utilizing "abbreviated breast MRI"
  4. Describe appropriate screening guidelines and diagnostic workup in special populations, such as breastfeeding and pregnant patients, men, as well as transgender women, and men
  5. Identify high yield diagnoses throughout multiple specialties of radiology
  6. Review common imaging artifacts, anatomic variants, and critical diagnoses and make appropriate management recommendations

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
