ONLINEAANACMECNEPSRM - Patient Safety/Risk ManagementState Required CME

  • Overview
  • Faculty

Date & Location
Friday, October 25, 2019, 9:00 AM - Monday, July 25, 2022, 5:00 PM

Course Overview

GI procedures are the most common types of NORA cases. However, the Endoscopy suite also may present some of our biggest challenges. In this course, “Anesthesia for GI Endoscopic Procedures,” join Dr. Mark Weiss for a 2-part video lesson on the types of cases we do, patient management, anesthesia controversies, and finally, an addendum on “Pearls” so that you may thrive in the NORA suite. Then view the slide presentation for the GI suite to allow you and your team to review and discuss the basics of care.

ATTENTION Nurse Anesthetists! In order to receive your AANA certificate, please enter your AANA ID# under My CE/CME, PROFILE, CREDENTIALS. You are also required to enter your AANA ID# on the evaluation before proceeding to download your certificate.

How to Receive Credit:

To receive your Certificate of Credit for participating in this CME/CE-certified educational curriculum, please follow these steps:

  • Read all the introductory material including faculty and disclosure information
  • Complete the pre-test
  • View the video lectures, slides, references and resources

  4. Develop a common sense approach to airway management in the GI suite, including criteria for endotracheal intubation
  5. Explain how the use of closed claims can illuminate the difficulties and dangers of the NORA suite
  6. Describe the value of the ETCO2 monitor, and how oximetry alone does not ensure safe outcome
  7. Examine the common co-morbidities that our patients have, and how these issues may affect patient care
  8. Review the controversy of Anesthesia services for ASA I and II patients undergoing routine colonoscopy
