Course Overview
Neurosurgery Grand Rounds provides a didactic learning opportunity for the target audience to be exposed to advances in the fields of neurosurgery, neuroscience, preoperative and perioperative medicine, quality improvement, systems-based practice, and societal and community implications of neurosurgical practice. This educational activity is intended to provide the neurosurgical team with an opportunity to obtain new knowledge of technical and treatment advances and be aware of changes to clinical practice guidelines.

Learning Objectives
  1. Incorporate new and changing neurosurgical clinical practice guidelines into routine care.
  2. Identify initiatives in improving quality of care delivery and newly implement or continue to implement quality of improvement measures in neurosurgical practice.
  3. Conceptualize and describe the importance of health care policies, health system performance, and patient experiences in neurosurgery

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Penn Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.  

Designation of Credit
Physicians: Penn Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

ABIM MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.00 MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Physician Assistants: AAPA accepts certificates of participation for educational activities certified for AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ from organizations accredited by ACCME or a recognized state medical society. PAs may receive a maximum of 1.00 Category 1 credits for completing this activity.

Nurses: This program provides 1.00 NCPD Hours.

ABS MOC: Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn 1.00 credits toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirements of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program.
