The goal of the Duhring Lectureship Conference is to gain knowledge of current research in Dermatology, to keep up with new treatments in dermatological diseases, to gain an understanding of new findings in dermatological diseases, to form a foundation of understanding of dermatological diseases, and to improve clinical problem solving.

Objective(s): 1 Describe how desmoglein-specific autoantibodies and autoreactive CD4? T cells contribute to the pathogenesis of pemphigus and how breakdown of immune tolerance leads to disease 1 Dicuss the multilayered organization of the epidermal barrier—including tight junctions, corneoptosis, stratum corneum pH zonation, and interactions with the skin microbiota—and relate these mechanisms to skin homeostasis and inflammatory disease 2 Explain the rationale and supporting evidence for antigen-specific regulatory T-cell therapy as a strategy to restore immune tolerance in pemphigus while minimizing systemic immunosuppression

Objectives

After completing this activity, participants should be able to:
