Course Overview
As death rates from substance use disorders escalate, clinicians seek knowledge and awareness of opioid stewardship practices: approaches to opioid alternatives and judicious use of opioids in the treatment of painful conditions. Additional focus will be on prevention of substance use disorders and identification and treatment of substance use disorders with evidence based medications.

Participants will understand the impact of the evolving drug supply in supporting patients with substance use disorders. New strategies are emerging to engage patients into evidence-based treatment, integrate harm reduction approaches to support patient goals and enhance safety and describe best practices for management of fentanyl-xylazine exposures in the hospital and outpatient setting.
